“This database/catalog has allowed us to create a master catalog of our entire body of work.”
Whether you shoot lots of negatives at once or are just the occasional photographer, you need a good way to catalog your film and photographs. This workshop complements the Sheet Film Numbering Workshop by utilizing the negative numbers assigned to each sheet of film for entry into this catalog. I developed this catalog as a way to organize our film and photographs for easy access and search ability. I created our catalog using the application FileMaker Pro and have included the downloadable template we us. To use the template you will need to purchase FileMaker Pro. This template can be modified or used as a model for developing your own personal database/catalog.
The Master Photo Catalog has provided us with the ability to search and retrieve vast amounts of information including field notes, the finished print and exhibit/sales information.

Susan Harlin grew up in a house that had a darkroom. Her Mother was an artist and used a camera to capture ideas she would later paint on canvas. At a young age, Susan had the opportunity to make a few contact prints, just enough to peak her curiosity. After working as a professional pianist as an adult, Susan was once again fascinated by the art of photography. Susan has spent the last twenty-five years working and honing her darkroom skills, practicing the art of LF and ULF film photography. Traditional Black & White film is her chosen medium and where she spends her creative time.
